Loss without sorrow is like life without love

I have been consumed with my mother and her illness. She quietly and peacefully passed away in her home on 11-15-08. I love her so much. She will be missed and she was loved by many.

She loved the African Children so much. I know she would be excited to see the building up of Luckyhill, where 2 of her grandchildren are are living, for the time being. I only wish she could of known them, and for Princeton and Dublyn know her. I know in my heart she is watching over them. I am dedicating my time and energy to the efforts at Luckyhill Orphanage, in Ghana. My mom dedicated so much of her life helping others, I feel it my duty to do the same. Luckyhill is so deserving. They need so much, but are happy with so little. I would love to help provide them with the things they are in need of, then possibly in the future provide them with the things they want. I haven't entered anything for a long time. I have been tending to my sweet mother, who is losing her battle with ovarian cancer. She loves Africa, too. She has traveled to Africa with the Wheelchair Foundation. Delivering wheelchairs, and school supplies to those in need. I know she has never been to Ghana. She would love it.

My mom lives in Utah. While I was there I had a chance to visit with Lois and Jessica. The urgency of supplying the school seems to continue. The officials in Ghana visited the school/orphanage. They are requesting that the children need to be on "real" beds. So... the charge to raise some money for the children, to have beds, is now in full force. Sydny, my oldest daughter, is conducting her own project making t-shirt dresses. She has gotten donations of fabric, t-shirts, thread, and women to sew! Way to go Syd! The project is going to be this Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008. Should be great!

News from Luckyhill

We just got news from Luckyhill School. Jessica, who is picking up her daughter, was able to talk to me for a few minutes. She shared a few stories with me, some heart-warming and some heart-breaking.
Jessica shared with me that she took Sarah(her daughter) and Dublyn out to eat one day. While they were finishing up at the restaurant, Jessica was getting Sarah cleaned up, then she went to tend to Dublyn. To Jessica's dismay, Dublyn was gone! Jessica frantically looked around for Dublyn. She found her taking her cleaned off plate to the kitchen. She has been taught well at the school. She will be a great example to the Terry kids! :)
Now for the heart breaking news. Princeton and Dublyn have been staying with their Aunt during the night. They spend all of the day time at the school then sleep at the Aunt's home at night. Their Aunt volunteers at the school and works hard to help all of the children. The Aunt has been financially in trouble for a long time. Princeton and Dublyn stay with her because there is 80-90 kids sleeping on tables with mattresses placed on top for the beds. It was a better place for Princeton and Dublyn with their Aunt. Although, now I am not so sure. The Aunt was evicted from her home 2 days ago and now is living in the Liberian Refugee Camp. The kids are with her. I am so sad and feel such an urgency to raise awareness for these kids who are living with nothing. If the school/orphanage had room for them they would not be at the refugee camp. I am so sad for their new situation. Please help make a better place for children who just need a place to lay their sweet little heads at night.

Here we go... on a journey to Ghana, Africa

I have never been interested in creating a blog before. Except that I love reading other peoples blogs. I have always learned something from reading what others are experiencing. So, I am diving into this with no knowledge of how to design or even set this up. It has been pretty easy, so far. It has been kind of a step by step process. If I can get photos uploaded that will be a miracle.

I need to start this blog for the Luckyhill school/orphanage. I have found my love in this school. As many of you know or some of you don't know, we (the Terrys) have found the rest of our family at the Luckyhill School/Orphanage. I will try to post a photo of some of the scenes of the school and even a photo of our children who are waiting for us. We can't wait to get there to meet them and then bring them home to be a special part of our family.

I write this because the school is in need of special financial help. I am so excited to see great things happen for the rest of the children that remain at the school. Like a water well, electricity, some source of light, buildings that shelter the children. Even our children are thinking of ways that they can help improve the children's lives at Luckyhill School/Orphanage. I hope you can help us in our efforts to bring safety, security, happiness and light to a place that needs us, all of us!
